Brick slips smoked in an unique fashion

All of Joseph Bricks’ bricks can also be supplied in a brick-slip format. Our product range consists of two types of bricks:

• Smoked bricks: high-quality basic brick, purchased from reputed top-class suppliers and then smoked to achieve a unique colour tone. These standard-shaped bricks are selected with the utmost care.
• Eco-smoked bricks: our own, exclusive bricks with unique dimensions that we press, dry and fire ourselves. The firing and smoking are combined in a single cycle. We call this innovative production process eco-smoking, and it uses less gas and produces less CO2 emissions.

As third-generation brickmakers we manage the production process right down to the last detail for all of our brick slip tiles. This means we can offer endless variation in colour, structure and format. We analyse the technical aspects of the bricks and study the impact of the temperature and length of smoking on the colour. By playing with these different parameters we can accomplish an exclusive and unique end result. We continue innovating in order to make the production ever more sustainable and to seek the boundaries of this ancient product. Brick slips are a sustainable alternative to traditional bricks. Fewer bricks are needed for the same surface area while leaving more room for insulation in the façade. In terms of look and feel, brick slips are equal to the original facing bricks. Once grouted, the difference becomes impossible to distinguish with our brick slip tiles. Our brick strips have a life cycle of more than 100 years. Plus, they are colourfast and easy maintenance.
